A Guide to the Holidays at Lake of the Ozarks

Lake of the Ozarks is home to many great events for the holidays. Whether it’s you and your family or you are about the nightlife, the Lake has an event for you this year!

Holiday Lights

I don’t think it matters how old anyone gets, everyone seems to get excited when they see twinkling holiday lights. Lake of the Ozarks has plenty of fantastic events to go look at holiday lights but to name a couple, there are the Osage Beach Holiday Lights and Deck the Docks Holiday Lights Cruises.

Osage Beach Holiday Lights

They started this right after Thanksgiving and it will end December 31st. The lights will be set up and ready for you to come look at Wednesday through Sunday evenings at various locations in the Osage Beach City Park. (For directions click HERE.)

Deck the Docks Holiday Lights Cruises

This will be the Sixth Annual Deck the Docks Festival of Lights to benefit the Dogwood Animal Shelter. The cruises are Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 5:30PM to 8:00PM. The last cruise will be on December 30th. Tickets are $25 each. Celebration Cruises will take you on an unforgettable tour of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks to see all of the sparkly lakefront homes and docks! You can call 573-480-3212 or hop on Celebration Cruises website to reserve your tickets!

The Classics

There are a few activities that seem almost cheesy to do around the holidays, but they are still a must! Ice skating being one and of course, you just can’t miss out on a holiday show at the Main Street Music Hall.

Christmas Village and Ice Skating at Old Kinderhook

Old Kinderhook is the Winter Wonderland everyone dreams of visiting. They host Lake of the Ozarks only outdoor ice rink which will be open every weekend until Christmas. Though it’s not just the ice rink that makes them a Winter Wonderland, just imagine horse-drawn carriage rides, elf story tellings, Christmas Carolers, S’mores around a fire pit, and Gingerbread House making, all at one venue. You just can’t pass up all the holiday activities at Old Kinderhook this year!

Christmas on Main Street

Main Street is known for having fantastic shows. This year Gabby Gumm and cast is putting on a show that you’ll enjoy no matter how old you are. It’ll be a night of laughter and your favorite songs to really get you into the spirit of the holidays. The last show will be on December 18th. You can call 573-348-9500 or get on the Main Street website to access tickets and showtimes. It’ll be an evening of clean family fun,  celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

New Year’s Eve Celebrations

For me personally, one of the hardest decisions I have to make in the month of December is, where am I going to ring in the new year at? Lake of the Ozarks, once again, has so many amazing celebrations on New Year’s Eve I even had a hard time picking just a few to write about!
